We have here the Professional Staunton chess pieces or sometimes regarded as the Paul Morphy Series of 1884.
These particular chess pieces are carved from blocks of wood. This particular series of chess pieces is named after a famous American Chess player called Paul Charles Morphy who sadly passed away in 1884. Regarded as one of the greats of his generation Morphy had an excellent yet brief career in chess. Morphy gained his true status after consistently defeating some of the chess greats of his type, inparticular hungarian chess great Johann Lowenthal at a very young age. These chess pieces are carved in honour of the late great Paul Morphy, using the highest and perfect quality of woods and polished with a smooth yet natural finish. Each piece is also padded with a thick green felt to prevent any damage to the chess board. Each piece has been hand carved in Amritsar India, the epicentre of great skilled artisans perfecting their craft. A wonderful set to add to your collection of staunton chess pieces made from the best wood by the masters of craft in their field.
We also include a perfect Rootwood chess pieces box with a silver metal clasp. The chess box comes in a wonderful colour and shape, each box comes a velvet felt on the base. A very heavy duty box able to contain chess pieces of up-to 3.75″ comfortably. The box is crafted in a way to comfort the pieces with a black velvet felt as the inner lining. Both sides of the box crafted with silver hinges on the upper corners carefully sunk into the wood and preventing the lid folding beyond the right angle.
